Planning was going on for a year, I was not playing T20, so I had understood that I will not play in this World Cup. But God changed the whole destiny. 24 hours ago, I was with my family. I got a message, ‘What is your next plan? Is it?’ So I said don’t bother me, I am resting. Then I got a call from Suryakumar Yadav.”
Siraj considered Suryakumar’s words a joke
Mohammed Siraj said, “I got a call from Suryakumar Yadav and he said ‘Mia, get ready and pack your bag and come’. I said Surya Bhai, don’t joke because this is not going to happen. Then he said ‘Mia, I am telling the truth, come.’ So this was shocking news for me. Whatever God has written, no one can change it. I not only joined the team but also played the match. God is great.”
Were you excited from within that you had to do something if you got a chance? Responding to this question, Siraj said, “The emotion is always there. As a player, when you are playing the World Cup, it is a different dream for a professional. So I thought that I have to do the same as I have been doing in Ranji. It was not easy to hit the new ball, so if I bowled wicket to wicket, I got wickets there too.”
