Speaking to Fortune India, producer Jyoti Deshpande said, ‘This is not just the success of the filmmakers, but also the success of the audience. After many decades, we have seen such a film which shocked the imagination of cinema goers. The audience made the film a success by watching it multiple times and talking about it.
He further said, ‘The film ran in theaters for more than 60 days. After ‘Sholay’ I can’t think of any film which has been so successful. As filmmakers, we can’t get any greater praise than this. This is something we can’t script, it can’t be bought with marketing money, and it can’t be achieved with money.

Talking about the sequel, he said, ‘If the first part had not done well, the second part would have remained in our cupboard. But we were confident that the first part would be a hit. We are happy that the audience liked it. We believe that ‘Dhurandhar 2’ will be even bigger than the first part. Preparations are on to release it in five languages. Jyoti also claimed that despite being made in Hindi, the film received a tremendous response from South India and was among the most watched films in Pakistan as well.
