There was a shortage of teachers for a long time in many colleges affiliated to Delhi University. Now to solve this problem the university administration has taken a big decision. The process of recruitment for about 600 assistant professor posts in 12 colleges of DU is going to start soon. It is believed that recruitment notification can be issued from the month of March. With this recruitment, the level of education in colleges will improve and students will get the benefit of permanent teachers.
Posts are lying vacant in colleges for a long time
A large number of teacher posts are lying vacant in these 12 colleges affiliated to DU for a long time. Overall, more than 1500 posts are sanctioned in these colleges, but out of these, about 980 posts are vacant. At present, a limited number of permanent teachers are working in these colleges and most of the teaching work is being done with the help of guest teachers. In such a situation, colleges are expected to get a lot of relief from the start of permanent recruitment.
Recruitment process accelerated after formation of governing body
The recruitment process in these colleges was earlier stuck due to many administrative reasons. Especially due to non-constitution of governing body of colleges, appointments were not being made. Now the university administration and Delhi government are together completing the process of formation of the governing body. Representatives from both the parties will be included in it. This will also reduce the possibility of hindrance in the recruitment process in future.
What is the required qualification?
For the post of Assistant Professor, the candidate must have a master’s degree in the relevant subject with at least 55 percent marks. Apart from this, the candidate must have passed the UGC NET exam. However, candidates who have a PhD degree can be exempted from the NET exam. Apart from this, the educational record of the candidate should be good and he should have deep knowledge related to the subject. It will be necessary to follow all the rules decided by the university and UGC.
