If hostel and mess expenses are also included, the total expenditure of one year can reach around Rs 2 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh.

Fee waiver facility is also available in NIT for economically weaker students. Families whose annual income is up to Rs 1 lakh can be given complete waiver of tuition fees. At the same time, students from families with annual income ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh get huge relief in tuition fees. To avail this benefit, it is necessary to submit a valid income certificate.
Which charges are not exempted?
The relief given in fees is limited to tuition fees only. Students have to deposit other amounts like hostel fees, mess charges, library fees, examination fees, internet and computer fees separately. Therefore, it is important to make a correct estimate of the total expenses before admission.
