Former IPS officer Amitabh Kumar Das was taken into custody by Patna Police on Friday (February 13, 2026) evening. Police raid was conducted at his house in Patna. Last month (January), a NEET student died in Patna. He was making many types of comments in this matter. After this, the police registered a case against him in Chitragupt Nagar police station of Patna. Police from many police stations had arrived for the raid.
After being taken into police custody, Amitabh Das made a big claim while going before the media. He said, “I am being arrested to save Nishant Kumar. I have proof. I will give it to the CBI. An attempt has been made to murder me. These people (police team) have kept some of my belongings from the house. They (the team that went to take custody) were continuously receiving instructions on the phone that they have to save Nishant Kumar. Arrest Amitabh Das.” Amitabh Das was referring to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant.
Let us tell you that in the case of death of NEET student, Amitabh Das had demanded that DNA test of Nishant Kumar should also be done. A controversial post was also made regarding Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and Home Department Minister Samrat Chaudhary. Now action has been taken against them.

Amitabh Das has also been accused of sexual exploitation. Shabnam case: In 2006, a woman (reportedly the daughter of a retired IPS officer) had accused Amitabh Kumar Das of sexually exploiting her and falsely promising marriage. Year 2006 Amitabh Das who was BMP-11 Commandant in Jamui at that time. He sexually exploited her for 8-9 years and also made a false promise of marriage. The woman claimed that he kept in touch with her for many years and promised to marry her, but later he did not do so.
In 2018, the government declared him ineligible and forcibly retired him. It is said that he never got his ACR written by the senior officer because in his eyes all the senior officers are corrupt.
