South Korean lawmakers, citing the spy agency’s report, have revealed that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un may choose his daughter Kim Ju Ae as his successor. There is speculation that Kim Jong Un wants to establish his daughter as the fourth generation leader of the country.
South Korean MP Lee Seong-kwan told reporters after a secret meeting of the National Intelligence Agency (NIS) that earlier the NIS used to only talk about presenting Kim Ju Ae as the successor, but today it is being said that he is being appointed as the successor internally.
Reuters reports that the NIS will keep a close eye on whether Kim Ju Ae attends the ruling Workers’ Party meeting on Wednesday and how she is presented at the event, including any possible designation she may be given.
Who is Kim Joo Ae?
There is not much information about Kim Ju Ae, although her age is currently said to be 13 years. The world came to know about him in 2013 when American basketball star Dennis Rodman made a controversial visit to Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea. He later told The Guardian, “I held his daughter Ju Ae in my arms and also spoke to (Kim’s wife).” Experts believe that Kim Jong Un has 3 children and Ju Ae is the middle one but this has not been confirmed.
Teenager Xu Ai first appeared in public in 2022 during the test of an intercontinental ballistic missile. According to CNN reports, since then he has been seen with his father at several government events. In January, Kim Ju Ae was seen with her father during a test launch of a large-caliber multiple rocket launch system.
He is believed to have made his first trip abroad in September, when he traveled with Kim Jong Un to Beijing by armored train to attend Xi Jinping’s military parade. According to BBC report, Kim Ju Ae has been seen in such designer clothes which are out of reach of most of the people of North Korea.
