The health department has intensified action after a case of serious negligence came to light in the family welfare sterilization camp organized in Bagh in Dhar district. The sterilization camp was organized on Friday (February 13) at Bagh Community Health Center in Dhar district. Where serious negligence was seen. About 180 women were operated here in a single day. It was claimed that an operation was performed every two minutes and after that the women were made to lie on the ground. After this incident, questions have been raised on the health system. At the same time, politics has also intensified on this matter. Congress and BJP have raised questions on irregularities.

There was only 1 doctor in the sterilization camp

Let us tell you that there was only one doctor in the sterilization camp and he performed one operation every 2 minutes. A private doctor was called from Barwani for the operation. After the operation, the women were made to lie down on the ground in the bright sunlight under the open sky.

The camp was set up in a tribal dominated area

All these women were seen suffering from heat and pain. This camp was set up in a tribal dominated area. Tribal women had reached the camp since morning. There was no adequate arrangement for drinking water and seating in the camp. It was told that the operations were being conducted rapidly by private doctor Dr. Rakesh Dawar.

The hospital manager made this claim

Basant Ajnar, manager at the hospital, claimed that he performs a sterilization in just 2 minutes. Serious questions are also being raised on the safety and medical protocol of the operation done so quickly. Now how reasonable is it to perform the sterilization operation in a minute or two?

Health center store-keeper Basant Ajnar said that more than 180 patients reached the camp and due to lack of beds, women had to be made to lie on the floor after the operation. He said that doctors are experts and there is no problem of time, but this lack of arrangements raises big questions on the preparedness of the health system itself.

What did the woman present at the camp tell?

Outside the sterilization centre, some women and men were swinging small children with cloth bags on them. When asked, he said that we were called to the sterilization center at 8:00 in the morning. Here we are sitting outside, hungry and thirsty. He described the facilities provided by the government as a dilemma and where there should be improvement.

Show cause notice issued

Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. Anita Singare said that departmental action was initiated as soon as information about sterilization being carried out in the camp in excess of the prescribed standards and irregularities in the process came to the notice. CMHO said that a show cause notice was issued to Dr. Virbhadra Singh Muvel, BMO of Bagh. Besides, he was attached to Dhar from administrative point of view. Dr. Singare clarified that the authority to suspend BMO is not at his level, hence a letter has been written to senior officials in this regard and necessary action has been recommended.

Administration assured of strict action

It is noteworthy that a case of sterilization of more women than the prescribed number came to light in the camp, after which questions were raised on the health system and monitoring system in the district. The administration is continuing the investigation of the case and has assured strict action against the culprits.

What did BJP-Congress say on the matter?

BJP spokesperson Gulrez Sheikh said about the irregularities in Dhar’s sterilization case that protocol has been violated. For this, appropriate action has been taken by the administration and it will be ensured that this does not happen again.

Meanwhile, Congress spokesperson Rahul Raj said that the health system has collapsed under the BJP rule. The government’s focus is only on figures. No one’s life has any value. He further said that the government cannot escape responsibility.
