Ticket checking rule after 10 pm

According to railway rules, TTE cannot disturb sleeping passengers to show tickets between 10 pm to 6 am. This rule applies to both sleeper and AC coaches, so that the sleep of the passengers is not disturbed. However, TTE can check the tickets of passengers who board the train after 10 pm. If an officer repeatedly harasses you without any reason, passengers can lodge a complaint on helpline number 139.

It is important to maintain peace in the train at night, talking loudly, using loudspeaker on mobile, listening to songs without headphones is considered a violation of rules. If any passenger’s actions cause problems to other passengers then action can be taken. Under Section 145 of the Railway Act 1989, a fine can be imposed for disturbing peace, which can range from Rs 500 to Rs 1000.

Light and other facilities rules

After 10 pm in the train, the main light of the coach is switched off and only the night light remains on, so that the passengers can sleep comfortably. People traveling in groups also cannot talk loudly. In some trains, food service is stopped late at night. If needed, passengers can book food in advance through catering. Apart from this, the movement of cleaning staff is also limited at night. At the same time, charging points in the train are also closed from 11 am to 5 am, so that incidents like short circuit do not happen.

What is the rule regarding middle berth?

In the sleeper coach, a middle berth passenger can leave his seat from 10 pm to 6 am. During this time, the passengers sitting on the lower berth cannot stop him from doing so. Whereas after 6 am in the morning, the middle berth has to be closed again.
