In the much talked about pornography case in Banda, today the POCSO court has convicted the accused Ram Bhawan and his wife Durgavati and sentenced them to death. On October 31, 2020, CBI had registered a case against accused Ram Bhawan for sexually assaulting more than 50 children and making their videos and selling them abroad. In this case today, in a 160 page decision, the POCSO court has sentenced Ram Bhawan and his wife Durgavati to death. Along with this, the court has ordered the government to give compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the victim children.
Actually, CBI got information about this entire matter through Interpol, after which CBI registered a case in this matter on 30 October 2020. In this case, on 16 November 2020, CBI arrested junior engineer Ram Bhawan posted in the Irrigation Department from Chitrakoot. In the same case, JE’s wife Durgavati was also arrested by CBI from Chitrakoot on 28 December 2020 in the case of threatening witnesses. Since then both the accused were detained in Banda Mandal Jail.
The court sentenced the culprits to death
Now the POCSO court has sentenced both the accused in this case, Ram Bhawan, a junior engineer posted in the irrigation department, and his wife Durgavati to death for this heinous crime. Accused Ram Bhavan is originally a resident of Naraini town of Banda district. In this case, CBI presented 74 witnesses in the court.

What did the government advocate of POCSO court say?
POCSO court’s government advocate Kamal Singh said, information about this case was received by CBI through Interpol, the video of children being sexually exploited by 3 numbers is uploaded on the internet, which is sold in about 40-45 countries. Along with this, the pen drive which was given to CBI, contained 679 photos and videos of sexual exploitation of 36 children.
CBI presented 74 witnesses in the court
He said that CBI registered a case in this case on October 30, 2020 and CBI Deputy SP Amit Kumar started investigating it. Its charge sheet was filed in the court in February 2021. In this case which went on for four years, the CBI prosecutor presented 74 witnesses in the court.
Court awarded death sentence to husband and wife
Meanwhile, on 16 November, the accused Ram Bhavan was arrested by the CBI and on 28 December 2020, the CBI also arrested Ram Bhavan’s wife Durgavati and sent her to jail in the case of threatening witnesses. Since then both the accused were imprisoned in Banda jail. However, some time ago Durgavati was granted bail by the High Court. Today in this case, POCSO court judge Pradeep Kumar Mishra has given death sentence to both Ram Bhavan and his wife Durgavati.
