Amidst the 2026 T20 World Cup, Pakistani players are in the news for England’s The Hundred League. Actually, there is news that Pakistani cricketers will not be selected in The Hundred League of England. Reports say that the teams of The Hundred are owned by Indian companies. In such a situation, they can avoid buying Pakistani players in the upcoming auction. England’s white ball cricket captain Harry Brook has given a big statement on this matter. Brook said that it would be shameful if Pakistani cricketers are kept out of The Hundred League.
Before the Super-8 round of the 2026 T20 World Cup, England captain Harry Brook said, “Right now our focus is on the 2026 T20 World Cup. To be honest, we have nothing to do with it, but Pakistan has been an important country in the history of cricket. I think they will have around 50-60 players in the auction and it would be a shame not to see some of them in the league.”
Brook further said, “They have some great cricketers and they also attract huge crowds. So it would be a shame not to see some of the Pakistan players there, because their presence would make the tournament even better.” Let us tell you that the upcoming season of The Hundred will run from July 21 to August 16, while the players’ auction will be held on March 11 and 12.
Let us tell you that 67 male and female cricketers of Pakistan have registered for the auction of The Hundred in London, which includes almost all its players playing in the Men’s T20 World Cup. Many Pakistani players including Mohammad Aamir, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf have previously played in ‘The Hundred’.
It is noteworthy that now the owners of foreign leagues around the world are Indians. This also includes IL T20, South Africa’s SA T20 and England’s The Hundred. After the start of SA20 in 2023, no Pakistani cricketer has been a part of it. All six franchises of this tournament are owned by Indians. Similarly, in the UAE ILT20, the franchise owned by the owners of MI London and Southern Brave has not kept a single Pakistani player in its team in four seasons.
