There is big news for the parents who are preparing to enroll their children in school in Delhi. DoE has started the process of admission in Nursery, KG and Class 1 under EWS, DG and CWSN categories for the academic session 2026-27. Under this process, children will get admission in government and recognized private schools of Delhi. The last date to apply has been fixed as 16 March 2026. In such a situation, parents are advised to visit the official website on time and apply.
Under this admission process, admission will be given in Nursery, KG and Class 1. This admission has been kept especially for the economically weaker, deprived sections and children with special needs, so that every child can get equal opportunity for education. Under EWS i.e. Economically Weaker Section, come those families whose annual income is less than Rs 5 lakh. Along with this, it is necessary for the family to be a resident of Delhi. Children falling under this category are admitted on reserved seats in private schools.
Special provision has also been made in this admission process for CWSN i.e. children with special needs. Out of the total 25 percent reserved seats, 3 percent seats have been reserved only for children with special needs. With this, such children will also get an opportunity to get good education. Many classes have been included under DG i.e. deprived class category. This includes Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC non-creamy layer), orphan children, transgender children and children affected by HIV. The objective of this category is to connect those children with education who generally get less opportunities.
How will the age limit be decided?
The age of children will be calculated on the basis of 31 March 2026. The age limit has been fixed differently for different classes. For admission in nursery, the age of the child should be between 3 to 5 years. That means the child should be born between 1 April 2021 and 31 March 2023. For admission in KG, the age of the child should be between 4 to 6 years. For this, the child must be born between 1 April 2020 and 31 March 2022. For admission in Class 1, the age of the child has been fixed between 5 to 7 years. That means the child should be born between 1 April 2019 and 31 March 2021.
Keep these things in mind while applying
Only one application can be filled for a child. If more than one form is filled in the name of a child, his/her claim will be canceled even if his/her name appears in the lucky draw. While filling the form, enter only the mobile number which is active. All information related to admission, like lucky draw date and result, will be sent to this number. Fill the child’s name, date of birth, parents’ information and document details correctly. If any kind of wrong information is found, the application can be canceled.
How will the selection be done?
Children will be selected entirely through lucky draw done through computer. There will be no interview or written examination of any kind. This system has been adopted to keep the process completely transparent. Parents should not wait for the last date. By filling the application on time, one also gets a chance to correct the mistake. Also keep all the necessary documents ready in advance.
