On the eve of Maharashtra budget session, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) launched a strong attack on the ruling BJP and boycotted the Tea Party. The opposition leaders said that they will not go for tea at a place where there is no respect, where there is no civilization, where there is no respect for democracy and the Constitution. On behalf of MVA, Thackeray group’s Bhaskar Jadhav and MLA Aditya Thackeray, Congress’s Satej Patil and Vijay Wadettiwar held a press conference and raised questions on the working style of the government.

However, no leader of Nationalist Congress (Sharadchandra Pawar faction) was present in this press conference, due to which the discussion intensified in political circles. The leaders questioned that when the government has got an overwhelming majority, then why is BJP so afraid of the opposition leader?

Government’s role doubtful – Bhaskar Jadhav

Uddhav faction leader Bhaskar Jadhav said, “There is an atmosphere of doubt in entire Maharashtra regarding Ajit Pawar’s accident, but the role of the government is not clear.” He also cornered the government on the issue of digital meters and alleged that digital meters are being forcibly installed in the state. Expressing concern over the increasing drug trade in the state, he said that a situation is arising that “Maharashtra may become ‘Udta Punjab'”.

Accused of looting farmers

Vijay Wadettiwar said, “Farmers are being looted in the state. Soybean did not get a price more than Rs 4 thousand and maize was not bought for more than Rs 1500-1600 per quintal. Due to the burden of debt, a farmer even had to sell his kidney. He said that the state has a debt of Rs 9 lakh 32 thousand crore and in the name of ‘Ladki Behan’ scheme, it is being flaunted.

Allegations of corruption and commission

MVA leaders alleged that commission commission of 20-25 percent is going on in the state. Works are being given to special people by increasing the tender prices. He said that a situation like “Will you give 15 percent? Let’s finalize 22 percent, you have got the work.” He also claimed that 1 lakh 57 thousand women and girls are missing in the state and the government is silent on this.

Aditya Thackeray mentioned the metro accident

Referring to the accident that took place during metro work in Mulund, Aditya Thackeray said, “Two people died and only Rs 5 lakh was given as compensation.” He raised the question whether the value of a person’s life in the state is only this much?

Questions on unemployment and projects

Satej Patil said that according to the Economic Survey 2025, 70 lakh young men and women have registered themselves as unemployed. He alleged that the highway project worth Rs 86 thousand crore has now reached Rs 1 lakh 2 thousand crore. He also raised questions on the action of ACB in the ministry and said whether this is an attempt to corner the Nationalist Congress? Mahavikas Aghadi made it clear that it will strongly raise all these issues in the assembly session.
