In an effort to expand its foothold in the quick commerce and travel market, Uber will soon launch a special Uber Air Taxi. Under this, the company will give customers the option to book Joby Aviation’s electric aircraft in its app. Uber will partner with Joby Aviation to provide better facilities to its customers.
Under the Uber-Joby partnership, you will get a chance to ride its first electric aircraft at the end of 2026. There are plans to launch it in many cities of the world also. Dubai will be the first city in the world, where customers will be the first to get the facility to book Uber-Joby aircraft rides. After this, expanding its scope from the Middle East, it will also be launched in New York, Los Angeles, United Kingdom and Japan.
Approval will be required
Air taxi booking will be as normal as normal ride booking. After opening the app, you will get the option to book air taxi. After entering the destination on this, air travel will be possible for you. However, this will require approval from local authorities.
Uber Air Taxi in Britain will need approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). For this, the process of getting Joby’s aircraft certification is in the final stage. To provide air-travel access to its US customer base, Uber has already conducted more than 50,000 miles of flight testing across its fleet.
How will the booking be done?

Step 2: In the application, riders will get the option to choose Joby aircraft in some cities.

Based on the Uber-Joby design, it will be like an electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Its speed limit will be around 200 mph (321 km/h). Comfortable seats are provided in the cabin. This aircraft will be able to carry four passengers at a time.
