Delhi government has started Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana to financially secure the education and future of daughters. Expanding the Laadli scheme, the Delhi government has now implemented it as Lakhpati Bitiya scheme. The objective of this scheme is to provide financial assistance to daughters during their studies from birth till graduation or diploma. So that studies are not left midway due to lack of money.
Under the scheme, the government will deposit the amount in the accounts of daughters in a phased manner, which will exceed Rs 1 lakh including interest by the time they reach the age of 21 years. Many questions are arising in the minds of people regarding this scheme. In such a situation, let us tell you today whether girls from other states studying in Delhi will also get the benefit of Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana or not and what are the rules regarding it.
Will daughters of other states also get the benefit of the scheme?
According to the rules of Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana, the benefit of this scheme is available only to those girls who are born in Delhi, whose family has been living in Delhi for at least 3 years and whose annual family income does not exceed Rs 1.20 lakh. That is, if a girl is studying in Delhi, but she was born in another state or her family is not a permanent resident of Delhi, then she will not get the benefit of this scheme. According to this scheme, only maximum two daughters of a family get its benefit. However, some conditions are relaxed for daughters living in government or licensed care centres.

How much money is available in Lakhpati Yojana?
Under Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana, the government will deposit the amount in different phases in the accounts linked to the daughter’s Aadhaar. In this, Rs 11 thousand will be deposited in the account at the time of birth. After this, 5-5 rupees will be deposited on passing 1st class, 6th, 9th, 10th class and 12th. On completion of graduation or diploma, additional assistance of Rs 20,000 will be given. Overall, under this scheme, the government will deposit about Rs 56,000 in the accounts of daughters, which with interest will amount to more than Rs 1 lakh by the age of 21 years. This amount will go directly into the daughters’ account through DBT.
How can I apply for the scheme?
Applications for Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana will start from April 1, 2026. For this, registration will have to be done on the e-district portal of Delhi. Birth certificate, Aadhar card, income certificate, resident certificate of Delhi and bank account details will be required for the application.
