Petrol & Diesel Price Today: As tensions increased in West Asia after the attack on Iran, people’s concerns increased about a possible increase in the prices of petrol and diesel. However, despite the sharp rise in crude oil prices globally, it has not yet affected the prices of petrol and diesel in major cities of the country.
News agency Press Trust of India (PTI) has quoted government sources as saying that at present, it is a matter of relief for consumers that there is no possibility of increase in prices in the near future.
What effect does Middle East tension have on oil?
The government has adopted a strategy in which oil companies can increase their profits when international oil prices fall, whereas when prices rise in the global market, the companies protect the interests of consumers by bearing the burden for some time. According to the report of global financial services company Nomura, currently oil marketing companies are bearing the impact of increased crude oil prices themselves and are not passing it on directly to consumers.
A sharp rise in crude oil prices has been seen so far amid geo-political tensions. After the attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran, the global standard Brent Crude has increased by about 16.8 percent, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) has registered an increase of about 14 percent.
