Stock Market Today: The first trading day of the week, Monday, March 9, had a very bad start in the Indian stock market. Major benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 opened trading in the red.
The 30-share BSE Sensex index slipped 1862.15 points or 2.36 percent. Sensex started the day at the level of 77,056.75. At the same time, a decline is also being seen in NSE Nifty 50. Nifty 50 slipped 582.40 points or 2.38 percent and opened at the level of 23,868.05.
By around 9:20 am, the Sensex was trading at 76,617 points, down by 2301 points. Whereas Nifty had slipped 50 687 points and was trading at the level of 23,762.

Indigo, Tata Steel, Maruti, Eternal and L&T were the top losers from the BSE basket.
How was the market on Friday?
There was a huge decline in the Indian stock market on the trading day of Friday, March 6. Major benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 ended the day trading in the red. Sensex fell by 1097.00 points or 1.37 percent to 78,918.90 points, while NSE Nifty 50 slipped by 315.45 points or 1.27 percent and closed at the level of 24,450.45.
Reliance, Sun Pharma, NTPC and HCL Tech were the top gainers from the BSE basket. Talking about the top losers, Eternal, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank and Bajaj Finserv were.
There was a decline in the shares of Nifty 100, Nifty Bank, Nifty Auto, Nifty FMCG, Nifty Smallcap 100 and Nifty Midcap 100. A rise was recorded in Nifty IT shares. On Friday’s trading day, 6 shares from BSE basket closed on the green mark and 24 shares recorded a decline.
