Bodies of those who lost their lives in Vietnam boat accident will be brought to India, what did the embassy tell?

The bodies of 15 Indian tourists who lost their lives in a boat accident near Phu Quoc island of Vietnam will be sent to India on Monday (July 13). The Indian Embassy in Hanoi has shared information regarding this. The embassy said on social media that the bodies will be taken from Ho Chi Minh City to Mumbai on Vietnam Airlines flight VN-979.

The embassy said, ‘This flight will depart from Ho Chi Minh City at 6 pm local time and will reach Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at 9.35 pm Indian time.’

The embassy said that the concerned state governments have been informed about this and they have been requested to coordinate with the affected families and make arrangements to transport the mortal remains to their homes. Of the 15 people killed in this accident, 10 were residents of Tamil Nadu, three from Andhra Pradesh and two from Kerala. Two women are also included in the dead. The Embassy said, ‘The Indian Embassy in Hanoi and the Indian Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City express their condolences to the families of the deceased.’

Was a victim of speedboat accident

It is noteworthy that on Friday, a speedboat carrying 32 Indian tourists and four local crew members capsized near Hoan Me Rut Ngoi area near Phu Quoc island. 15 Indian tourists died in this accident. 16 other tourists were rescued from the accident and have returned to India after treatment, while the condition of another surviving tourist is still critical and is being treated at a hospital in Phu Quoc.

The actual causes of the accident are not yet known. Vietnamese officials have ordered an investigation into the matter. According to Vietnam’s news portal ‘VN Express International’, the operator of the speedboat was taken into custody on Sunday. Phu Quoc is the largest island in Vietnam and is a popular tourist destination for its white sandy beaches, coral reefs and island hopping.
