IPL 2026 SRH New Captain: Before IPL 2026, Sunrisers Hyderabad made a big change and handed over the captaincy to Ishan Kishan. The team’s regular captain Pat Cummins is recovering from injury, due to which he will not be available for the team in the first few matches. With this, young left-handed batsman Abhishek Sharma has been made the vice-captain of the team.
The franchise shared the information about the change of captain by sharing a post through social media. The post read, “Pat Cummins will not be able to play some matches due to his recovery from injury. Till his recovery, Ishan Kishan will be the captain and Abhishek Sharma will be the vice-captain.” Although it was not made clear for how many matches Ishaan and Abhishek will perform this responsibility, it was only told that both will be seen in this role till Cummins gets well.

Ishaan got the gift of excellent performance in the World Cup
Ishan Kishan had performed brilliantly in the recently concluded 2026 T20 World Cup. He was the fourth highest run scorer in the tournament. He scored 317 runs in 9 innings of 9 matches at an average of 35.22 and strike rate of 193.29. During this period, 3 fifties were scored from his bat. Ishaan got the reward for this brilliant performance in the form of captaincy of the franchise. Let us tell you that before the T2 World Cup, Ishaan had made Jharkhand win the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title under his captaincy.

Talking about Ishaan’s IPL career, till now he has played 119 matches. Batting in 112 innings of these matches, he has scored 2998 runs at an average of 29.10 and strike rate of 137.64.
