A small incident that happened on the field in the final of T20 World Cup 2026 has now become a big topic of discussion. Suryakumar Yadav recently set an example of sportsmanship by showing big heart. He made a big revelation about the collision that took place during the match and said that he himself had apologized to Daryl Mitchell.
What was the whole matter?
In the final match, a throw by Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh went straight to Daryl Mitchell. After this incident, there was an atmosphere of tension on the field for some time. Mitchell expressed displeasure over this and also talked to Arshdeep. However, at that time, there was no immediate apology from Arshdeep, due to which the situation seemed to be a bit serious. After this, captain Suryakumar Yadav and the umpires had to intervene and handle the matter.
The captain showed responsibility
After the match, Suryakumar Yadav told that he himself had taken the initiative and apologized to Mitchell. He said that as a captain, it is very important to set the right example on the field. He said that whether the mistake was intentional or not, the safety and honor of a player comes first. With this in mind, he went and spoke directly to Mitchell and calmed down the situation.
Fine imposed on Arshdeep
After this incident, ICC fined Arshdeep Singh 15 percent of the match fee and also gave one demerit point. Later, Arshdeep also apologized publicly and clarified that his throw was not intentional. After the match was over, Arshdeep and Daryl Mitchell shook hands and ended the dispute. Both players considered it a part of the game and decided to move ahead.
India won the title
Amidst all this incident, India performed brilliantly and won the final match by 96 runs and won the T20 World Cup title for the second consecutive time. This incident also showed that even though there may be tension on the field, in the end the spirit of the game prevails.
