The controversy over the name of IPL has now come to an end. BCCI has got a big relief from Kerala High Court. The court rejected the public interest litigation (PIL) which claimed that the use of the name “Indian Premier League” was illegal.
The court did not find merit in the petition
This petition was filed by a person named Ashik Karot, who described himself as a social worker. He said that BCCI cannot use the name “Indian Premier League” for its T20 league, but the bench of Chief Justice Soumen Sen and Justice Shyam Kumar VM has rejected this argument. The court clearly said that there is no solid basis in this petition. The court also commented that IPL has been going on for many years and it is not logical to raise such an issue now.
Big relief to BCCI, no impact on IPL
BCCI has got a big relief from this decision of the court. This clearly means that IPL will continue with its current name without any legal hindrance. IPL is considered to be the biggest T20 league in the world and millions of fans keep an eye on it. In such a situation, such a controversy could affect the image of the tournament. However, the court has now completely clarified the situation.
Matches also got approval in Bengaluru
Meanwhile, another big news related to IPL 2026 has come out. The Karnataka government has given official permission to Karnataka Cricket Association (KSCA) and RCB to organize matches at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This decision was taken after the meeting which was chaired by State Home Minister G. God did it. In this meeting, representatives of the Expert Committee, KSCA and RCB gave information about the preparations and security arrangements of the stadium.
Actually, there was uncertainty for some time due to the stampede after the victory of RCB in the last season, but after reviewing the report of the expert committee and the security arrangements, the government has approved the organization of the matches.
