Strictness increased in IPL 2026, BCCI made new rules for players and families, know

Before the start of IPL 2026, BCCI has issued new and strict rules for all the 10 franchises. The purpose of these rules is said to be to increase discipline in the tournament, improve the team environment and protect the quality of the pitch. This time, clear guidelines have been made not only for the players but also for the presence of their family and friends.

The biggest change has been made regarding the travel of players. Now all the players will have to travel for practice sessions and matches only by team bus. Earlier, some players, especially in their home city, used to reach by private vehicle, but now this will not be allowed. BCCI believes that this will keep the team united and the same rules will apply to all the players.

Strictness for family and friends too

According to the new rules, families and friends of the players will not be able to travel in the team bus. They will have to reach the stadium or practice venue in a separate vehicle. Not only this, entry of family members and friends into the dressing room has also been completely banned. This rule will remain applicable on the practice day also. If families wish to watch practice, they will be allowed to watch only from the designated hospitality area.

Ban on practice on match day

BCCI has also banned conducting practice sessions on the field on the day of the match. Apart from this, no fitness test of any kind can be conducted in the area near the pitch, i.e. the main square. The board believes that doing so could damage the pitch.

Rules on Orange Cap and Purple Cap also

This time a new rule has also been implemented for the players leading in the race for Orange Cap and Purple Cap. Such players will have to wear this cap during the match. If a player does not want to wear the cap the entire time, he will have to wear it for at least the first two overs so that the broadcast team can show it to the fans.

Keep an eye on the dress code too

BCCI has also fixed dress code for post match presentation. Now players will not be able to come to the presentation wearing sleeveless jersey or floppy hat. The player will be given a warning if he breaks the rules for the first time. Even after this, the player will have to pay a fine for doing so.
