Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 has come into controversy even before its start. Former Pakistan wicketkeeper batsman Kamran Akmal has openly expressed his displeasure over the organization of the league. Especially regarding the press conference of the captains, he made sharp remarks, due to which the discussion has intensified in the cricket world.
Told the press conference as ‘Valima’
Regarding the organization of the press conference, Kamran Akmal said that it did not look like any big tournament at all. According to him, all the captains were made to sit together, due to which the atmosphere looked quite disorganized. Describing it as ‘Walima’, he said that he could not understand to whom the question was being asked. If PCL is called such a big brand then it should have been organized in the same manner.
Foreign players faced problems
Akmal said that the situation was even more difficult for foreign captains. Many times he did not understand with whom he was talking. During this, Shaheen Afridi had to explain questions again and again, which is not a good sign for an international level league. It looked exactly like a local tournament.
Lack of discipline was also seen
He also raised questions on the attitude of the players during the press conference. According to Akmal, some players were busy on mobile phones while the program was going on. He says that professional behavior is necessary on such a platform, because it reflects the image of the entire league.
Target on PCB management
Akmal also raised questions on the preparation of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He said that even though the board had planned the event as per its own, things which were under their control could have been presented in a better way. If separate talks were held with the captains, the program could have been more effective.
PSL is counted among the big T20 leagues of the world, but such criticism can affect its image. Now everyone’s eyes are on whether there will be improvement in the upcoming matches and events or not.
