Bank Holidays April 2026: It is important to keep in mind the holidays before doing bank related work in the month of April, because banks are going to be closed for a total of 14 days this month. The new financial year starts on the first day of the month i.e. 1st April. Banks remain open on this day, but there is no work for common customers, because on this day the bank completes its financial work.
Talking about holidays, banks will remain closed for about 8 days throughout the month due to festivals and special occasions in different states. Apart from this, due to 4th Sunday, banking services are going to be affected across the country. Also, banks remain closed on second and fourth Saturdays also.
In this way, overall banking operations will be affected for 14 days in April. Therefore, it is very important to check the list of holidays before going to the bank branch. So that you don’t face any kind of problem…
Banks will remain closed for several days in the beginning of the month
The impact on banking services will be visible in the early days of April itself. Due to the beginning of the new financial year on April 1, there will be no business for general customers in banks across the country. The next day on April 2, banks will remain closed in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala due to Maundy Thursday.
On the occasion of Good Friday on April 3, banking services will remain closed in many cities like Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Bengaluru, Dehradun, Guwahati, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mumbai, Delhi, Patna, Raipur and Shimla. Due to 5th April being a Sunday, banks will remain closed in the entire country and due to the second Saturday on 11th April, there will be a holiday in all the banks. There will be a weekly holiday on Sunday, 12th April.
Lots of holidays in the second half of April too
Banks are going to remain closed for many days in the second half of the month also. On April 14, due to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, Baisakhi and other festivals, banks will remain closed in many cities including Agartala, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Lucknow, Mumbai, Patna and Ranchi. On April 15, there will be a holiday in Agartala, Guwahati, Itanagar, Kochi, Kolkata, Shimla and Thiruvananthapuram due to Bengali New Year, Bohag Bihu, Vishu and Himachal Day.
Whereas banks will not open in Guwahati on 16th April due to Bohag Bihu. After this, banks will remain closed in Bengaluru on Sunday, April 19 and April 20 due to Basava Jayanti and Akshaya Tritiya. There will be a holiday in Agartala on 21st April due to Garia Puja. Due to 25th April being fourth Saturday and 26th April being Sunday, banks are going to remain closed in the entire country.
