The 11th edition of Pakistan Super League is going on, in whose 18th match drama was seen. New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell, playing for Rawalpindies, refused to play the balls of Quetta Gladiators player Usman Tariq. He backed down twice, leading to controversy. The umpire also had to intervene.
In the match held on Friday, Quetta Gladiators batted first and scored 182 runs. This controversy was seen in the 9th over of Rawalpindi’s innings while chasing the target. This over was of Usman Tariq, on whose first ball Abdullah Fayal took a single and gave the strike to Daryl Mitchell. Mitchell played the second ball of the over, but then retired before the third ball was bowled. Tariq could not bowl the ball, he also expressed his objection on this but soon he got ready to bowl the ball.
After this, as soon as Tariq was about to release the ball, Mitchell moved away. Although this time Tariq left the ball, but it was declared dead. Seeing that Mitchell was moving away again and again, the umpire understood that he was doing so because of the controversial action of Tariq. The umpire explained to him and told him that his action was legal and he should not move.

Of course Usman Tariq’s action is legal, but many batsmen call it a distraction. Tariq pauses a bit before releasing the ball, which makes it difficult for the batsman. Cameron Green had also expressed his displeasure over his action.
