- America sought assurance from Iran not to make nuclear weapons.
The important talks between America and Iran in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad completely failed. Iran reacted sharply when the 21-hour talks were inconclusive. Iran said that America failed to win our trust. However, Tehran has thanked Pakistan for its efforts to end the war and establish peace in the Middle East.
Speaker of Iranian Parliament said on failure of Islamabad talks
Mohammad Baghar Ghalibaf, who led the Iranian delegation in the Islamabad talks and Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, said that Iran negotiated with full intentions in this peace talks and put forward the interests of its country, but due to past experiences, we cannot trust America. He said, ‘Before the talks, I had stressed that we have the necessary goodwill and will, but due to the experience of the last two wars, we do not have confidence in the other side.’
After the failure of the talks, Iran had clearly said that the biggest reason for the stalling of the talks was the baseless and unfair demands made by America. Our team negotiated continuously and seriously for about 21 hours, so that we could protect the interests of our country. We also gave many suggestions during this period, but due to America’s conditions it was not possible to move ahead and ultimately the talks ended.
What condition did America set??
During the talks hosted by Islamabad, America put forward some conditions before Iran which were very difficult for Iran to accept. These conditions included issues like the situation related to the Strait of Hormuz and removal of nuclear material. The Strait of Hormuz is very important for the world, because a large part of the global energy supply passes through this important route.
We gave the best offer to Iran: JD Vance
Vice President JD Vance, who led the American delegation, said that America had made the last and best offer from its side. Now it remains to be seen whether Iran accepts this or not. He also said that the main issue of the talks was that Iran should give a clear assurance that it will never make nuclear weapons, but we did not get any such concrete assurance from the other side.
