Putin’s second visit to India in a year

This visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to India for the BRICS summit will be his second visit within a year. Earlier, the Russian President had come to India on the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to participate in the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit in the first week of December, 2025.

During Putin’s last visit, both the leaders had reiterated their commitment to strengthen the special and privileged strategic partnership between India and Russia. An MoU was also signed between India and Russia for cooperation in port and shipping sector. Besides, both the countries had also agreed to further strengthen cooperation in the construction of stable and efficient transport corridors.
