Assembly Election 2026: Amid continuing discontent in the ruling party in Karnataka, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivkumar met Congress leaders in the capital. He refused to share details of the meetings and said he would not disclose them. Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar said, “I have met party leaders. I will continue my work, but I will not reveal who I have met. I have not come to Delhi just to enjoy the air here.”
Speaking in New Delhi on Thursday night, when Shivakumar was asked whether he would submit the election report to party leaders, he said, ‘I visited Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Assam for election campaigning. I will have to inform my leaders about the developments in these states. The party had entrusted me with the responsibility of election campaign there. It is my duty as KPCC President and Deputy Chief Minister to conduct elections in Karnataka, and I will fulfill it.
On what issue did DK Shivkumar refrain from speaking?
Responding to questions about possible changes in the state, he said, ‘While holding a responsible post, can I discuss such matters in front of the media? I will not talk about this. Please do not try to extract such information from me.

On reports of MLAs and ministers meeting the Chief Minister regarding discontent in the Muslim community, he said, ‘We have received some information at the party level. We all have to work together. Responding to the news of the meeting of ministers close to the Chief Minister, he said, ‘I have no information about this. I don’t know who is close to whom. I have nothing to do with such meetings. When asked about senior MLAs planning another visit to Delhi to press for a cabinet reshuffle, he said, ‘Let’s wait and see.’
On the elections held in various states, he said, “Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Assam and by-elections in Karnataka have been completed. We also held a zoom meeting on Assam elections on Wednesday. I will visit Assam again. We will form a coalition government in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Our leaders and workers have worked very hard in Assam and our alliance has received a positive response.”
DK Shivkumar reached Delhi after Hyderabad
On the Delhi tour, he said, ‘I had gone to Hyderabad with my family and have come to Delhi from there. I have not come to Delhi just for fresh air. I have to discuss issues related to Bengaluru with Union Ministers. I had asked for an appointment and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has given me an appointment at 11.45 am on Friday. Responding to the demands of revoking the suspension of Muslim leaders, he said, ‘Who have we suspended? He himself has resigned from his posts. Please check the things written in the resignation letter.
