Afghanistan and Pakistan tension increased, Kabul summoned Pak officer on airstrike allegations

Tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan has increased once again. Kabul has taken strict action by accusing Pakistan of attacking universities and residential areas and has summoned Pakistan’s Charge d’Affairs in this matter.

Pak official summoned in Kabul
Afghanistan’s Foreign Ministry summoned Pakistan’s ChargĂ© d’Affairs in Kabul. According to the ministry, this action has been taken in protest against the alleged attacks on a university located in Kunar province and on civilian targets and public structures around the Durand Line.

Allegations of attack on university and residential areas
Afghan officials say that on Monday, mortar and missile attacks were carried out by Pakistan, in which a university in northeastern Afghanistan and surrounding civilian areas were targeted. At least 7 people died in this attack, while 85 people are said to be injured.

News of attack in Asadabad also
According to local officials, along with houses in the capital Asadabad, Syed Jamaluddin Afghani University was also targeted. Taliban government’s deputy spokesperson Hamdullah Fitrat also alleged that these attacks were carried out by Pakistan. He said that mortars and rockets were fired at around 2 pm on Monday afternoon.

Pakistan called the allegations false
Whereas Pakistan has completely rejected all these allegations. Pakistan’s Information Ministry says that the news of targeting universities and residential areas is completely wrong and baseless.

First violence after peace talks
It is noteworthy that in the beginning of April, peace talks were held between the two countries under the mediation of China. After this, this is being said to be the first major incident of violence. Earlier on Sunday, news of violent clashes had come to light on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Kandahar area. According to reports, there was firing between the two sides in Spin Boldak area, in which six Pakistani soldiers were claimed to have been killed.

Hostage and counterclaims
Quoting sources, it was said that Taliban fighters took a Pakistani soldier hostage and also took weapons with them. However, these claims have not been officially confirmed yet. It is being told that a local child died in the firing from Pakistan late night, after which the Taliban retaliated. After this incident the tension between the two countries has increased further.
