There seems to be no scope for agreement from the US side on the peace proposal presented by Iran. US President Donald Trump has rejected the proposal to open the Strait of Hormuz and end the blockade completely.
Trump called the blockade effective
In an interview given to ‘Axios’, Trump defended this blockade and called it more effective than direct military action. It has also been made clear that until Iran completely stops its nuclear program, these restrictions will be further tightened. He said, ‘This blockade is more effective than bombing. He said, ‘Iranians are choking like stuffed pigs’ (they are suffocating badly). Things are going to get even worse for them. They cannot have nuclear weapons.
Trump’s claim – ‘Iran under immense pressure’
Trump claimed that Iran is currently under immense pressure and is very eager to talk. He believes that because of his strictness, Iran has now started surrendering and wants to resolve the matter as soon as possible. At present he is not in favor of removing the sanctions, because his target is to stop Iran from becoming a nuclear power. According to the US President, the blockade is a strong weapon for America, which they are using to make Iran agree to their terms.
He said, ‘They (Iran) want to make a compromise. He (Trump) does not want me to continue this blockade, but I do not want to lift the blockade, because I do not want them to have nuclear weapons.

What is Tehran’s demand?
Iran’s demand is to open our trade routes first, and will talk about the nuclear issue later. At the same time, America says that first stop the nuclear program, only then the paths will open. Till now both the sides are stuck in such a situation where no one is ready to bow down. Iran’s insistence is that first the restrictions on the movement of ships should be removed, while talks related to the nuclear program should be postponed for later. On the other hand, America does not seem ready to accept this condition.
Iran had sent a proposal to resolve the issue phase wise through Pakistan, so that the Strait of Hormuz could be opened first, but after Trump rejected this proposal, this path of gradual settlement seems to be closed at the moment.
