The state government has made it clear that the scheme specifically targets the economically weaker rural group. With this, about 3% of the total beneficiaries will reportedly be reserved for persons with disabilities.

Along with this, priority will also be given to those applicants who have taken formal training in sheep or goat rearing. This includes taking training from Sheep and Goat Rearing Training Center and Central Goat Research Institute.

According to the report, out of the assistance amount of ₹54000 to be received from the government, ₹49000 will be deposited directly into the bank account of the beneficiary. The remaining ₹ 5000 will be used for 1 year insurance cover for the goats, transportation expenses and purchase of necessary equipment and utensils.

Interested persons can contact the office of the Chief Veterinary Officer of their district or the nearest veterinary hospital. Also, Aadhar card, caste certificate, residence certificate, bank passbook and photo will be required for the application.
