In the 55th match of IPL 2026, Delhi Capitals (DC) kept their hopes of reaching the playoffs alive by defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS). 22 year old player Madhav Tiwari played an important role in this victory of DC. Madhav performed brilliantly with both ball and bat.
Madhav took the big wickets of Punjab Kings opener Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly, who played half-century innings in the first bowling. After this, he batted brilliantly in the last overs and played an unbeaten inning of 18 runs in just 8 balls, giving Delhi Capitals their fifth win of this season. Madhav was chosen ‘Player of the Match’ for his strong performance.
Talking about his stellar performance, Madhav said, “I would like to first of all thank the team management for giving me this opportunity, and I am very lucky that I have been able to be a part of the winning team here. The mindset is always that if things are not in your hands, then you try to improve in every practice session. I worked a lot on my bowling with Munaf Patel, and I constantly worked on my range-hitting and things like that with the batting coach. It is It was fun, and I’m glad I was able to contribute to the team.”
When Madhav was asked whether he is a batting or bowling all-rounder, he replied that he is 100 percent batsman and 100 percent bowler. Describing his bowling plan in the match, Madhav said, “I think the wicket was helping the length ball, so I stuck to that in the beginning. I was trying to mix it up with wide balls and short balls in between. I was fully prepared and the pitch was also helping the fast bowlers.”
Madhav told that Delhi Capitals batting coach Ian Bell encouraged him. He said, “Our batting coach (Ian Bell) just told me, ‘You have power, you have everything. Just don’t try to do anything different. Just keep your shape and play shots when you see the ball.’
