- The temperature in Delhi is likely to increase by 3-5 degrees in the next 7 days.
Heat is once again wreaking havoc in many states of the country. At many places, the effects of extreme heat and heatwave are being seen. The Indian Meteorological Department informed that in the last 24 hours, maximum temperatures of 42 degrees Celsius or more have been recorded in most parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat state, Marathwada, Vidarbha, Western Madhya Pradesh and some places in Central Maharashtra.
Temperatures were recorded in the range of 34-42 degrees Celsius in most parts of Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, Karnataka, Konkan and Goa, Telangana, East Madhya Pradesh. However, the rest of the country experiences less than 34 degrees Celsius. The highest maximum temperature of 48.3 degrees Celsius was recorded in Barmer, Rajasthan.

Talking about Delhi-NCR, people have got relief from moderate rain and winds in Noida after Tuesday evening, but an increase in temperature has been recorded in Delhi. On Tuesday (May 12), the maximum temperature of Delhi was recorded at 39 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 27.6 degrees Celsius. During the last 24 hours, easterly winds blew in Delhi at a speed of 15-20 km/hr, whose speed reached 41 km/hr. At the same time, in Noida and Ghaziabad the maximum temperature was recorded up to 36 degrees Celsius.
How will the weather be in Delhi today?
The Meteorological Department estimates that the maximum temperature in the capital may gradually increase by 3-5 degrees Celsius during the next 7 days. There will be no major change in the minimum temperature during the next 4 days and after that it may increase by 1-2 degree Celsius. According to IMD, a storm with light rain and thunder is expected on Wednesday (May 13). Today the minimum temperature in the capital is likely to be 26 to 28 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is likely to be 37 to 39 degrees Celsius.
During this period, the wind speed is expected to be 30-40 km/hr, which can reach up to 50 km/hr with gusts. The Meteorological Department estimates that there may be a heat wave and increase in temperature in Delhi between May 16 and May 20. The maximum temperature here can exceed 40 degrees Celsius.
In view of the changing weather, the Meteorological Department has advised children, elderly people and people suffering from chronic diseases to be careful as the heat can increase their health problems. Apart from this, in view of the heat, it has been advised to wear light and loose-fitting cotton clothes.
