Iran also clarified that it had not attacked UAE, but had only targeted ‘American military bases’ present on UAE soil in self-defence.

During one session, there was a heated argument between Araghchi and UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had to intervene. Due to differences between the United Arab Emirates and Iran, no unanimous statement could be issued on this conflict. In recent weeks, there has been a heated debate between the two neighboring countries over Iran’s alleged attacks on energy infrastructure.
