A terrible road accident took place on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway in Palghar. There was a massive collision between a truck carrying a wedding procession and a container vehicle. 12 people died in this incident. 20 to 25 people are said to be seriously injured. The accident happened in Dhaniwari of Palghar. It is being told that there were more than 100 passengers in the truck. The injured are currently being treated at Kasa Sub-District Hospital.
People were going to the engagement ceremony
According to the information, at around 4 pm, more than 50 passengers were traveling in an Eicher tempo to the engagement ceremony of a person named Balaram Jairam Dandekar, a resident of Bapugaon Khadkipada village. Amar Patil, senior inspector of Kasa police station, said, “A total of 11 people died and 20 others were injured in the horrific accident. The injured have been admitted to Kasa sub-district hospital and other nearby medical centres.”
Both vehicles overturned after a strong collision
According to the police, the collision was so strong that both the vehicles overturned suddenly and many passengers got trapped under the vehicles. During preliminary investigation, it was found that the Eicher Tempo was carrying more passengers than its capacity and high speed, narrow part of the road and loss of control of the vehicle by the Eicher driver were the main reasons for the accident.
There was chaos after the accident
Giving information, police said that five passengers died on the spot while others later died during treatment. The condition of many injured is said to be serious, hence there is a possibility of the death toll increasing. After the accident, there was an atmosphere of chaos on the busy highway. After the incident, local residents, policemen and rescue teams reached the spot and rescued people trapped in the damaged vehicles.
