Prices increased twice in 2026
The year 2026 has started with tension in the Middle East. On May 15, the prices of petrol and diesel have increased by about Rs 3. In which the price of petrol has increased by Rs 3.14 paise, while the price of diesel has increased by Rs 3.11 paise. Four days later, on May 19, the prices of petrol and diesel once again increased by about 90 paise per liter.

Prices increased 13 times in 2022
Looking at the turmoil being seen in the oil market at present, it seems that the phase of 2022 is going to come again. Just as the prices of petrol and diesel have increased in just four days, similarly in the year 2022, the prices of petrol and diesel were increased a total of 13 times. At that time, due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, there was a lot of chaos in the oil market and the prices of crude oil also increased.

After which the Indian government also increased the prices of petrol and diesel 13 times in just 15 days. During this period, prices were increased by 80 paise per liter every day for 10 days between March and April. After which speculations are being made that the round may return again in 2022. Because currently experts are also saying that gradually the prices of fuel are going to increase further.

When did petrol and diesel become cheaper?
Till now, people are keeping an eye only on the increase in the prices of petrol and diesel. Fuel prices are increasing directly after the year 2022, i.e. in 2026. But do you remember that their prices were reduced in the year 2024? In fact, on March 15, 2024, the government had reduced the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 2. After which the price of petrol in Delhi became Rs 94.72 and the price of diesel became Rs 87.62.
Let us tell you that till now in the year 2026, the price of petrol has increased by Rs 4 and the price of diesel has increased by Rs 3.94 paise. After which the price of petrol in Delhi has become Rs 98.64 and the price of diesel has become Rs 91.58. Its direct impact is on the public’s pockets. However, there are speculations that the prices of petrol and diesel may increase further in the coming days.
