Vaibhav Suryavanshi took down Akash Singh’s arrogance, 54 runs were scored in 3 overs, Gavaskar said – Now where has your slip gone?

The 64th match in IPL 2026 was between Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants. In this match, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) had to face defeat by 7 wickets against RR. In this match, LSG fast bowler Akash Singh was badly beaten. He gave away 54 runs in just 3 overs. After his brilliant bowling against Chennai Super Kings in the last match, Akash Singh was in the news for his unique style of celebration. After every wicket, he was seen taking out a slip from his pocket and showing it. But the story completely changed against Rajasthan.

Sunil Gavaskar angry at Akash Singh

LSG raised huge mountains of 220 runs. But completing this target was like child’s play for Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The Lucknow team, which came out to save the target, definitely got wickets in the beginning, but after that the condition of the bowlers deteriorated. Akash Singh dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal, but after that Vaibhav Suryavanshi spoiled his line-length.

Vaibhav showered fours and sixes on Akash’s balls. Akash looked completely helpless on the field. Sunil Gavaskar, who was doing the commentary, also did not seem happy with Akash’s attitude. Pointing towards the sky, he said in the live commentary, ‘Where is that slip now? It’s in your pocket, isn’t it? Why are you not showing it now? Players should also have a calm nature. It is fine if you get a wicket on one ball, but if the batsman beats you on the remaining balls then it does not seem right to fly too much.

Gavaskar further said that Akash gave 48 runs in just 17 balls, in such a situation it is not right to show too much attitude. Actually, in the match against CSK, Akash Singh took 3 wickets for 26 runs. His slip celebration in the same match went viral on social media. However, Akash later clarified that the celebration was not to tease any player. He was doing this to motivate himself.
