Silver Purity News: These days the prices of gold and silver are increasing rapidly in the Indian market. Despite this, its demand is continuously increasing. The situation going on globally is also not having any significant impact on its sales. Meanwhile, news is also coming out that due to the consumption and demand of silver, questions are being raised on its purity in the market.
Adulterated silver is available in the market
In fact, according to industry experts, BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) had made hallmarking mandatory on all silver items from September 2025, but even now a large number of traders are not following this rule. Many silver bars, coins and utensils sold in the market do not meet the 999 purity standard and do not even have BIS certified hallmark. In such a situation, it is called cheating the customers.

This is a big center of silver
The cities considered to be silver centers in India are Jaipur, Rajkot, Agra, Kolhapur, Salem and Cuttack. Religious items and jewelery are made here on a large scale. Many experts believe that these cities can also be centers of impure silver. Silver utensils, jewellery, coins etc. are prepared in large quantities at all these places.
silver consumption
Let us tell you that about 7 thousand tonnes of silver is consumed every year in India, but only 286 assaying and hallmarking centers are available for this. In such a situation, how can purity be measured? So compared to silver, the consumption of gold in the country is about 800-850 tonnes, but there are 1,595 hallmarking centers for it. In such a situation, the situation is clear that despite the high consumption of silver, its testing system in the market is very weak.
