The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced Team India for the tri-series against Afghanistan A and Sri Lanka A. This tri series will run from June 9-June 21. Rituraj Gaikwad has entered the India A team and he has been made the vice-captain of the team. Tilak Verma will be captaining Team India during this tri-series.
Whom did Gaikwad replace?
Riyan Parag was to be given a chance first in the tri-series against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan and he was going to get the vice-captaincy. According to the statement issued by BCCI, Parag has been ruled out of the tri-series due to hamstring injury and his place has been taken by Rituraj Gaikwad.
Parag was captaining Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026. His team had reached the playoffs, but lost against Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2.

Tilak Verma captain, chance for Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Tilak Verma will be seen captaining Team India in the tri-series. Vaibhav Suryavanshi has also reserved his place in the team. In November 2025, he made his debut for India A in the Rising Stars Asia Cup. In that tournament, he played a historic inning of 144 runs in 42 balls against UAE. After that, Vaibhav is coming with strong performance in IPL 2026 also.
