Uttar Pradesh government has appointed senior IPS officer of 1991 batch Rajeev Krishna as the Director General of Police (DGP) of the state. He was currently commanding the state police as acting DGP. An official order has been issued by the Uttar Pradesh government in this regard.
Rajeev Krishna took over as acting DGP after the retirement of the then DGP Prashant Kumar. Before this, he has held important responsibilities in DG Vigilance and Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board. He has been recognized in the police department as an experienced, disciplined and result oriented officer.
There was no permanent DGP in UP since May 2022
There was no full-time DGP in Uttar Pradesh after the removal of Mukul Goyal in May 2022. After Goyal, there were many acting Director Generals of Police in the state, including D.S. Chauhan, R. Of. Vishwakarma, Vijay Kumar, Prashant Kumar and Rajiv Krishna are included. Krishna started his professional career as a trainee IPS officer in the state police in Prayagraj. He worked as SP and SSP in many districts of the state.

Rajeev Krishna, resident of Gautam Buddha Nagar, has completed his graduation in Electronics and Communication Engineering. During his more than three decades of police service, he has worked in various districts and important units of the state. His tenure as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Agra was particularly notable, where he distinguished himself by taking effective action against organized crime and kidnapping gangs. Rajiv Krishna, who has extensive experience of working in Police Headquarters, Vigilance and Recruitment Board, is also known for administrative efficiency and institutional reforms.
