Amidst the ongoing conflict with America, Iran has prepared to make a move in the Strait of Hormuz, which may once again spark war in the Middle East. It is reported that Iran has launched a ship in the Strait of Hormuz to collect taxes. Marine-Traffic, an organization that releases information about sea vessels around the world, has revealed the information about this toll-collector ship of Iran.
Marine traffic shared information
According to Marine Traffic, the name of this Iranian ship is ‘IRGC Toll Collect’. This ship has been named IRGC Toll Collect in the name of Iran’s powerful militia organization Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC). It is clear that this ship is part of the IRGC war fleet. Marine-Traffic shared information about this ship on Sunday (May 31, 2026). Currently, this ship is anchored at a naval base of IRGC near Qeshm Island, but Iran has written toll collection as its destination.
Toll collector is upset with Iran’s small suicide ships
According to the information, this toll-collector of IRGC is different from those small suicide boats which attack the ships of America and other enemy countries in the Strait of Hormuz. This is a dredger ship, i.e. a ship which cleans the sludge accumulated in the port. In fact, during the 40-day war, America and Israel completely destroyed the Iranian Navy’s war fleet.
America claims that about 150 Iranian ships, big and small, have been destroyed during the war. In such a situation, it is quite possible that Iran has converted this dredger into a toll collector.
Iran ready to collect toll despite denial
It is clear that even though Iran’s Foreign Minister and spokesperson are denying the issue of collecting tax in Hormuz, this toll collector is a witness that Iran’s intentions are not good. IRGC has also named the collection in Hormuz as eco-tax. Together with Oman, it has announced to develop a new system for the management of oil tankers and other commercial ships in Hormuz.
Iran took steps after the blockade by the American side
After the attack by America and Israel on February 28, Iran had imposed a naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. In such a situation, the movement of all oil tankers, LPG carriers and other commercial ships passing through this important sea route was stopped. In such a situation, the oil crisis had deepened in the entire world.
The Iranian Navy and Iran’s militia force, IRGC, started attacking ships passing through here with drones and missiles. During the war, Iran had also planted sea land mines in Hormuz. In such a situation, many ships also became victims of these landmines.
A few weeks ago, Iran had announced that commercial ships could pass through Hormuz, but only after obtaining permission from the IRGC. A few days later, Iran announced to charge toll from ships passing through Hormuz. For this, Iran also formed a special organization named Partial Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA). To avoid mines and assert its dominance, Iran issued a new route map for all commercial ships in Hormuz, passing north and south of Larak Island.
