What is white spot?
Vitiligo is a skin disease, in which the color of some parts of the skin gradually starts turning white. This problem arises when the melanin producing cells in the skin called melanocytes get destroyed for some reason or stop working properly. This disease can occur at any age and can appear on any part of the body. This disease is a result of fungal infection or destruction of pigment producing cells called melanocytes, the condition cannot be caused by the combination of fish and milk alone.

On this basis, this belief has been prevalent for generations that eating both together can cause skin diseases, especially white spots. This belief is so deeply rooted that people accept it as true without any proof.
What do experts say?
According to dermatologists, no solid scientific evidence has emerged till date that consumption of fish and milk together causes white spots. According to experts, the main cause of vitiligo is an autoimmune disorder, in which the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks its own melanocyte cells. Apart from this, genetic factors and environmental elements also play a role in this disease. In any authentic research conducted so far, no direct relation has been proven between the combined consumption of fish-milk and vitiligo.
What does Ayurveda say?
According to Ayurveda, milk has a cooling effect which provides coolness to the body. Whereas the nature of fish is hot and it maintains warmth in the body. In such a situation, if fish and milk are taken together, there may be problems related to digestion. Taking fish and milk together can upset the digestive system.
