Last year, Turkey had shown its anti-India stance by helping Pakistan during Operation Sindoor. Once again the Foreign Minister of Turkey praised friendship with Pakistan and made such a statement which exposes the double thinking prevailing in its foreign policy.
Protected relations with Pakistan
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who came to Singapore to participate in the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) program on Wednesday (June 3), while talking about Turkey’s relations with India, was also seen defending relations with Pakistan. He said, India should not have any resentment over the relations between Türkiye and Pakistan.
‘Türkiye is not the only country which has relations with Pakistan’
He further said, ‘Türkiye is not the only country which has good relations with Pakistan. There is historically solidarity with Pakistan on some issues. He said, for example, we have differences with Russia on some issues, with America on some issues, with some European countries on some issues, but we can move forward on a positive agenda by separating one negative issue from another. I believe the same should happen between Türkiye and India.

What did the Turkish Foreign Minister say about India?
Fidan said, ‘We really want to have better relations with India. We have no borders with India, we have no external bilateral issues with India, we have no bad history with India. On the contrary, we have every solid reason to have good relations with India.
Relations between India and Türkiye had soured due to their support to Pakistan during Operation Sindoor. Turkey described India’s Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, as an ‘unprovoked attack’. After this, Indian officials did not participate in the Turkish National Day celebrations held in Ankara last year, which shows India’s displeasure towards Turkey.
