Who is Ritabrata Banerjee?
Ritabrata Banerjee has been elected MLA from Uluberia Purba assembly in West Bengal on TMC ticket. He has defeated Rudra Prosad Banerjee of BJP on this seat. Before this, he had also been a Rajya Sabha MP twice. However, earlier he had become MP not from TMC but from CPI(M) in 2017. After this he joined TMC and became a Rajya Sabha MP from the party for 15 months.
How educated is Ritabrata Banerjee?
Ritabrata Banerjee was born in 1979 in a Bengali family in Kolkata. He started his schooling from South Point School. Apart from this, he did his graduation from Ashutosh College, Kolkata. It is said that at this time he became a member of SFI and started participating in party programs. After graduation, Ritabrata Banerjee took admission in Kolkata University and obtained MA degree in English Literature.

Ritabrata Banerjee contested elections for the first time in 2011
It is said that Ritabrata Banerjee became the National General Secretary of SFI during his MA degree. By then he had also established his identity as one of the prominent young faces of CPM. After this, his closeness with many leaders increased and CPM made him its candidate for Kolkata South Lok Sabha seat in 2011. That seat was vacant due to the resignation of Mamata Banerjee, although Ritabrata Banerjee lost that election, but keeping faith in him, the party sent him to the Rajya Sabha in 2014.
