Took retirement at 22

BJP’s star campaigner and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who is an expert in Hindu vote bank politics, was born on 5 June 1972 in a Garhwali Rajput family in Panchur village of Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. His father’s name is Late Anand Singh Bisht and mother’s name is Savitri Devi. He holds the fifth position among seven brothers and sisters. At the age of 22, he left worldly attachments and became a yogi. He is a B.Sc. in Mathematics from Garhwal University, Srinagar.

In the year 1993, he came to Gorakhpur while studying MSc in Mathematics. During his stay in Gorakhnath temple on 15 February 1994, he took initiation from Brahmalin Mahant Avedyanath and became a yogi. His name changed from Ajay Singh Bisht to Yogi Adityanath. Conducted the election of Mahant Avedyanath in the 1996 Lok Sabha elections. In the year 1998, Gurudev Mahant Avedyanath declared him as his successor and declared him a Lok Sabha candidate.

Became MP for the first time at the age of 26

It was from here that his political career started by winning the Lok Sabha elections at the age of 26. He also had the distinction of being the youngest MP. When Yogi took charge as the successor of Guru Gorakshanath Temple, he was responsible for the management of schools-colleges and Gorakshpeeth run under Maharana Pratap Education Council. Along with this, he has also been responsible for Guru Gorakshanath Hospital and resolving the sufferings of the common people. Along with this, his fame also kept increasing.

Pacharukhiya incident brought into limelight

The Pachrukhiya incident that took place on 10 February 1999 in Pachrukhiya of Kotwali police station area of ​​Maharajganj district brought him further into the limelight. From here, Yogi and controversies went hand in hand. Even after this, he continued to be accused of being anti-Muslim and giving communal speeches. He also had to go to jail during the curfew during the riots in Gorakhpur. Yogi Adityanath remained in the news a lot against conversion and for returning home. But, he was never distracted by all these things. During this period, he raised the slogan of Hindutva and development by strengthening organizations like Hindu Yuva Vahini and Bajrang Dal.

Show rebellious attitude to BJP

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also showed rebellious attitude during the 2007 assembly elections and 2009 Lok Sabha elections regarding the ongoing turmoil in the BJP top leadership and the declining credibility of the party. Due to BJP’s flexible attitude towards them in the 2007 assembly elections, it even announced to announce candidates from Hindu Yuva Vahini. This created panic in political circles including the BJP camp. Ultimately the top leadership gave importance to Yogi Adityanath’s stature in the party. After this he decided to maintain his reputation in Purvanchal including Eastern Uttar Pradesh. BJP also benefited from this and the stature of Yogi Adityanath also increased day by day.

Rained against terrorism from open platforms

As an MP, Yogi Adityanath also gave open speeches on dealing with terrorism, Naxalism and anti-national elements and even kept announcing its end in his own way. He showed his strength by winning consecutively in the Lok Sabha elections of 1998, 99, 2004, 2009 and 2014 and created a record not only for Purvanchal but for the entire country by becoming MP for five consecutive terms at the age of 42. In Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, who is more of an advocate of extreme Hindutva than an MP, has been winning elections on the basis of his activism. Hardly any MP returns from a meeting at 11 o’clock in the night and wakes up again at quarter to 3 o’clock. Yogis do the same for their yoga.

Daily routine starts with yoga and worship

His daily routine starts at 3 in the morning and continues till night. This also includes raising the tide of Hinduism among the people by touring the area after morning yoga, worship, cow service, Janta Darbar. Yogi is the Mahant of the world famous Gorakhnath temple. Purvanchal is witness to the fact that no Mahant has had as aggressive an attitude as Mahant Yogi Adityanath of Gorakshpeeth. Yogi is an expert in playing Hindu vs Muslim card. In the second Lok Sabha election, Yogi won despite losing to SP candidate Jamuna Nishad. The margin of victory was only seven thousand votes. After this, he made his strength felt by achieving a landslide victory.

Took oath as Chief Minister for the first time on March 19, 2017

He played the role of a star campaigner by holding massive rallies in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and also maintained his pride by winning the election from Gorakhpur. After the 2017 assembly elections, he took oath as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh on 19 March 2017. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he played an important role in ensuring victory of BJP candidates on all the Lok Sabha seats of Gorakhpur-Basti division. By taking charge of the campaign in many states of the country including UP, he became a game changer by ensuring the victory of BJP candidates.

No one doubts Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s Hindutva issue. He has worked to win the hearts of people on the issues of electricity, water, roads and employment. He also keeps writing books on Gorakshpeeth, Yoga, Religion and Spirituality.
