- Domestic LPG cylinder becomes costlier by Rs 29, effective from today.

LPG Price Hike: The prices of domestic LPG cylinders have been increased by Rs 29. This may spoil the kitchen budget of lakhs of families in the country. This is the second time in the last three months that prices have been increased as government fuel retailers have to cope with rising global energy prices. The new prices have come into effect from today, June 7.
After this new increase in the prices of domestic LPG, the price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi has increased from Rs 913 to Rs 942. Earlier also, an increase of Rs 60 per cylinder was made on March 7, when due to conflict in West Asia, there was disruption in global energy supply and international fuel prices increased.
How expensive has LPG become so far?
After the war in Iran, the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and the turmoil in the international market, commercial cylinders have become costlier by up to Rs 1422, domestic cylinders by Rs 89 and small cylinders of 5 kg by Rs 11. Oil companies have made huge gains in the last few months as global supply has been affected by the war.
Record breaking increase in commercial cylinder rates
Before the war started in Iran, the price of commercial cylinder in the country (till January) was Rs 1691.50. First of all, there was a record increase of Rs 993 in lump sum in May. Then on June 7 the rate was increased by Rs 42. This means that since February, commercial cylinders have become costlier by Rs 1422 (about 84%). Due to this, the operations of business establishments, hotels and dhabas have been damaged. Many restaurants have also been temporarily closed due to this.
How much has the price of domestic cylinder increased?
Before the crisis, the price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG gas cylinder in the country was Rs 853.00. First the price was increased by Rs 60 on March 7 and today on June 7 it was increased again by Rs 29. With this, domestic cylinder has become costlier by Rs 89 since the war in Iran.
Small cylinder also became costlier by Rs 11
The recent review has also affected the prices of 5 kg Free Market (FTL) cylinders, popular among labourers, migrants and students. Last June 1, its price was increased by Rs 11 per cylinder. After this its new price in Delhi became Rs 821.50.
