Multilayer Farming Tips: Nowadays, the craze of earning maximum profit from less land in farming is increasing very fast. If you are also thinking of doing something smart by moving away from the traditional method, then multi-layer farming can prove to be the best business model for you. The biggest advantage of this modern technology is that you do not need separate fields for different crops.

Rather, three crops are grown simultaneously on the same land. This not only reduces your cost to half but also saves a lot of water, fertilizer and labour. When income comes from three different crops at the same time, the risk of loss remains negligible. Let us tell you what is the right way to start this advanced farming.

How does multi-layer farming work?

To start multi-layer farming, first of all one has to choose such a combination of crops which does not harm each other. In this the first crop is below the ground. Like ginger or turmeric which do not require much sunlight to grow. Just above this, crops growing on the ground surface like greens, coriander or fenugreek are planted.

After this, a scaffold or net structure is prepared on top to protect both these layers from strong sunlight. On which creeper or vine crops like Kundru, Parwal, bitter gourd or pumpkin are spread. This three-in-one setup provides complete nutrition to all three layers from a single input.

How to prepare for multi-layer farming?

To make this farming successful, first of all you have to improve the soil and drainage system of your farm. After plowing the field thoroughly, beds are prepared by mixing cow dung manure or earthworm manure in it. After this, a strong scaffold or shade net structure is prepared with the help of bamboo, concrete poles and wires.

Which can handle the weight of the vine crops above. For irrigation, it is best to use drip irrigation system. Because this keeps the crops of all three layers getting equal amount of moisture as per their requirement. This advance preparation guarantees you regular income throughout the year.
