Sawan 2026 Puja Live: Sawan will last from 30 July to 28 August 2026. In Skanda Purana, the special importance of consecration, fasting and worship of Shivalinga in the month of Shravan has been mentioned. By worshiping Shiva in this month, there is description of more virtues and fulfillment of desires than on normal days.
In this month, gods, sages and devotees perform special worship of Lord Shiva. It is believed that in Sawan, Lord Shiva quickly accepts the prayers of the devotees and his blessings remain more on the earth.
30 Sawan starts from July

Important dates of Sawan
There is importance of performing Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva throughout the month of Sawan, but on some special dates, its benefits double. Like Sawan Monday, Sawan Shivratri, Hariyali Amavasya, Nag Panchami, Sawan Pradosh Vrat etc. It is believed that on this day Mahadev himself resides in Shivling.
This time there will be four Mondays in Saavan. The first Sawan Monday will be on 3rd August, the second on 10th August, the third on 17th August and the fourth Sawan Monday on 24th August.
Importance of Jalabhishek in Sawan
Lord Shiva is an ascetic, recluse and Yogeshwar. Water is a symbol of coolness, purity and life. Offering water on Shivalinga is also considered a symbol of pacifying one’s ego, anger and impurities. Lord Shiva held Mother Ganga in his locks, hence anointing with Ganga water is considered to be especially auspicious.
It is said that one returned water is the solution to all problems. According to beliefs, when Lord Shiva drank Halahal poison, the gods offered water to him to soothe his pain. It is said that since then Mahadev loves water very much.
