Fatima Sana Statement: In the high-voltage match played between India and Pakistan in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, the Indian team performed brilliantly and defeated Pakistan by 64 runs. Chasing the challenging target of 171 runs, the Pakistani team was reduced to 106 runs and had to face a one-sided defeat. In the next matches, we will have to improve the level of fielding along with bowling, because such small mistakes become costly in big matches.
After a good start the entire batting fell apart
The Pakistani captain also expressed disappointment over the performance of the batsmen. According to him, the team had a hold on the match in the initial phase, but later the batting order fell apart like a house of cards. Fatima Sana said, ‘We performed well in the powerplay and at that time the match was in balance. But after this our batting completely broke down. The way wickets kept falling, we could not make a comeback in the match. Batsmen will have to shoulder more responsibility in the coming matches.
Difficulties increased in Pakistan’s death overs
Fatima Sana admitted that her team could not handle the pressure in the last overs. He said that Pakistan was in the match till the last 15 overs, but later giving extra runs and some strategic mistakes turned the match towards India. According to the captain, ‘We were in a good position for a while, but later we gave away more runs than required. Apart from this, due to slow over-rate, we had to keep an extra fielder inside the 30-yard circle, which the Indian batsmen took advantage of.

Giving clarification regarding the slow over-rate, he said that due to India’s left-right batting combination, the bowlers and fielders had to constantly change their positions.
