Batting first in the third ODI being played in Chennai, Afghanistan’s innings was limited to 218 runs, although there was a time when it seemed that the team might not get bundled out within 100. India got off to a great start with the lethal bowling of Prasidh Krishna. When the fourth wicket fell in the form of Abdul Rasooli, the score of the visiting team was 36. Then with the brilliant century of Hashmatullah Shahidi, the team reached a respectable score.
In the third ODI being played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and decided to bat first. Afghanistan’s top order was completely shattered by the deadly bowling of Prasidh Krishna. He took the first 4 wickets in the powerplay itself. Rahmanullah Gurbaz (5), Ibrahim Zadran (11), Rahmat Shah Jurmate (5) and Abdul Rasooli (1) were out cheaply, after which Shahidi played a memorable innings.
Century partnership between Shahidi and Omarzai
After 4 wickets fell at 36, captain Hashmatullah Shahidi and Azmatullah Omarzai made an important partnership of 105 runs. Omarzai was out after scoring a half-century (50), this pair was broken by Prince Yadav, playing his second match.

There was a partnership of 57 runs between the captain and Mohammad Nabi (21) for the sixth wicket. When Nabi was out, Afghanistan’s score was 198, after which the remaining 4 wickets of the team also fell within 20 runs.
Prasidh Krishna took 5 wickets
Afghanistan’s 10th wicket fell in the form of Hashmatullah Shahidi, he had completed his century before getting out. He played an important inning of 102 runs in 131 balls with the help of 1 six and 13 fours. With this, Afghanistan reached a respectable score of 218.

With Shahidi’s wicket, Prasidh Krishna took a five-wicket haul. He gave only 23 runs in 8.2 overs. Apart from this, Gurnoor Brar, Prince Yadav and Harsh Dubey took 1 wicket each.
