America’s President Donald Trump always wants to remain in the news with his statements. The latest example of this has come to light again. Trump believes that India’s tariffs on American goods are much higher than official figures. When Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick argued on this, Trump did not listen to him. Even Lutnik’s figures were rubbished. This conversation that took place inside the White House has been revealed in a recent book.
When Trump presented his views on Indian tariffs, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, who was present there, told him the official figures. Donald Trump rejected the US government’s official data on Indian tariffs, saying that these figures are nonsense. To this, Howard Lutnick replied that these figures are actually official figures of the US government, but Trump being Trump, he rejected all this by calling it ‘bullshit’.
Revealed in the regime change book
This conversation that took place inside the White House has been revealed in the recently released book named ‘Regime Change’. This was when the specter of imposing reciprocal tariffs was on Trump’s mind. US President Trump had said this during the discussion on trade barriers in March last year.

What did Trump say on Lutnik’s argument?
When Commerce Secretary Lutnick told Trump that these data related to tariffs were not released by anyone else but the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), Trump rejected Lutnick’s claim and said that Indian tariffs on American goods are actually much higher. He claimed that India is imposing 175 percent tariff on American goods.
Trump told his close aide – Google it
During this discussion, Trump had also asked one of his close associates to Google. This book by Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, which claims to reveal the secrets of the Trump administration, was released in June itself. This claim related to Trump’s Indian tariffs has come at a time when things are close to being finalized on the trade deal between India and America.
